Paper Plate Craft Materials
You will need paper plates, red, blue, and white paint, a paintbrush, scissors, fasteners, and a hole puncher for this project.
DIY Flag Paper Plate Craft for Kids
To get started, fold the paper plate in half to make a crease. The crease gives you a visual reference which makes it easier to cut.
Then, with the paper folded in half, punch a hole on each side of the paper plate.
Next, open your paper plate and let your creativity take over by painting your paper plate. Remember to let the paint dry before using the white on top of the blue color.
After the paint has dried, get your scissor and cut the paper plate in half. If you want to make a banner, you can repeat the process until you have your desired length.
Finally, align the holes in your paper plate and use a fastener to hold them together. The fasteners give it a nice swooping look.
The last step is to find a spot in your home or class and admire your DIY paper plate bunting flag.
Uses for the Patriotic Paper Plate Craft
I love crafting, especially when I can use it in more than one way. Besides using this to entertain the kids during our 4th of July family bbq, I use them as decoration in the classroom.
For September, it’s a perfect way to bring to life the classroom for Freedom Week, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Constitution Day.
One Response
Hey, thank you for this great instruction.
I know its a little bit behind the Independence Day but my kids love the American flag, so I decided to build it anyways.
Before building it I also found a few cool paper plate crafts, on this website: https://www.diy-magazine.com/paper-plate-crafts/
