Some teachers seem to have the magic touch when it comes to layering their bulletin board borders.
One minute their bulletins are empty, and before you know it, you’re mesmerized by the colors and creativity.
How do they do it?
Well, it isn’t magic!
They simply understand what materials and colors to coordinate.
And guess what?
You can also achieve the same results too!
The easiest way to get beautiful bulletin boards to pop is by layering bulletin board borders.
Here are 10 tips to layer borders like a pro!
Layering Bulletin Board Borders
Choose one pattern as your main border.
Pick two coordinating colors from the main pattern border. This gives it a cohesive look.
Combine scalloped and straight borders on the bulletin board. Scalloped and Straight borders are the easiest ones to find.
Use scalloped borders to frame the inside or outside of the bulletin board. I like to frame the inside of the bulletin board with a scalloped border even if I’m am only using two borders.
Straight borders look good in between scalloped borders because they are wide and have eye-catching patterns.
When putting up your borders is easier to work from the outside in starting at the top.
When overlapping borders use the retailer company’s name as a marking to place the next border.
Adding a top piece such as paper fans, garland, or pom pomp’s gives your bulletin board that extra pop!
Pair up different top pieces to dress up the top of the bulletin board like paper fans and banner.
Check out craft stores such as Hobby Lobby or Michael’s for top pieces. Go to the party sections of general stores and you will find some awesome top pieces too.
For winter, I put together a snowflake-inspired bulletin board outside of my hallway following the tips above. The board looked stunning and I couldn't be happier with the results!
